Overview

What happens when the nervous system is damaged?

1. Bleeding

2. Edema

3. Immune response

4. Death of injured tissues by damage or loss of blood supply

5. Loss of connectivity provided by the CNS

 

In order to seek new treatments for stroke and brain injury, we examine changes which occur in the brain following injury such as stroke.

Our goal is to understand these changes so that we can better prevent complications and further damage.

The models we use allow us to test novel therapeutic options in the treatment of stroke.
